huldah cherry jeffe 1901 - 2001
since the 1960's. Dad bought the print in Brisbane Australia, when my sister
and I were little, and pretended we were the girls in the picture. It wasn't until
after I started painting in 1998 that I found information on the artist.

About Huldah Cherry Jeffe
Huldah is an American artist who loved painting turn ofthe century fashions.
She is listed in Who's Who in American Art,
Who's Who
of American
Women,
and the World Who's Who of Women.
Huldah studied at the Art Student's League &
Grand Central School in New York City.
Wally Findlay Galleries in New York presented her first one-woman show.
Four of her works were purchased by the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
She was represented by New York art dealer and collector Howard Young.
Huldah paintings have been spotted in the tv show Bewitched.
Huldah had paintings selected by the Salon des
Artisted Francais in Paris.
She exhibited in Charles Lock Galleries of New York.
Huldah's paintings were
reproduced by the New York Graphics Society.
She was tutored by Robert Brackman.
A little dog features in many of Huldah's paintings, most of which
were
based on
her friends Bill & Ginny Hair's little Maltese dogs:

Since the 1970s, the Maltese dog in Huldah's
painting were of
her friends Bill & Ginny's
dogs, one which was named Huldah, followed by Juliet. Huldah loved the dogs, and
especially loved
that one of the little Malteses had the same name as her.
